Meander
Meander
"Meander" showcases Silky Hakea in the foreground, and is inspired by a stunning hike up Bainggug peak, near Dunkeld. The path takes you past clumps of Xanthorea, delicate rock gardens, then along a ridge line with mind-boggling views back along the whole length of Gariwerd. The vastness of the rock structure, combined with the big sky are so exhilarating! This hike holds a special place in my heart because I did it with 3 generations of my family.
An original painting from the Wildflowers of Gariwerd series.
About the Collection
Gariwerd is one of the most majestic, diverse and sacred landscapes in Victoria. It's home to an abundance of plant life and one of my favourite places to be. This collection was inspired by the sense of belonging and open-ness you feel when you’re exploring the granite outcrops, or leaning in to peer at the wildflowers.
I chose plants with interesting silhouettes and left plenty of white space around them. There's a simplicity to working in black and white that lets the shapes sing!
